For bikers who think they’re kings of their castles, have we got the throne for you.
These Chrome Thrones are the creation of Buffalo Art Co. and custom motorcycle builder Chase Stopnik of the Cycle Zombies. They were built for Progressive Insurance as props for an upcoming Progressive motorcycle marketing campaign. Three of them were made, each representing a different style of motorcycle rider – cruiser, tourer, and sport bike. The hand-built thrones were pieced together from recycled motorcycle parts, each designed to reflect the style of rider it represents. Progressive sent the team that built them some “photo-realistic imaginings” as design prompts but otherwise it was up to the builders to let their imaginations run wild.
Of course we’re partial to the larger-than-life cruiser throne, but all three are pretty damn cool. In true cruiser fashion, an array of chrome motorcycle exhausts stretching skyward serves as a backrest, a V-Twin serves as the base, a split tank as armrests, with chains and sprockets thrown in for good measure. The sportbike chair looks like it could have been designed by H.R. Giger, while the tourer looks like a deconstructed Electra Glide.
Progressive says it will “unveil a new look for Flo – a departure from the white and blue apron – in a new motorcycle Throne print campaign.” Flo’s motorcycle spots are already a hoot, so should be interesting to see how Progressive incorporates these Chrome Thrones into the latest campaign.
